Heartworm Disease

April is Heartworm Awareness Month! As the weather warms up, our pets are no doubt enjoying the sunshine as much as us. However, all of these April Showers will bring back those pesky insects in full force, namely, the mosquito. We know them as annoying little bugs looking for a blood meal, and the awful red, itchy bump they leave behind. But that’s not all they leave behind! They are also known for transmitting little microfilaria (babies) of heartworms into our unsuspecting pets.
